Kartesia team meets Hands On London and Divine Rescue
Hands On London is a non-profit that has been created in 2010 and working as an enabler between not-for-profits, charities, community groups and volunteers. They helped Kartesia to organise its second Volunteering Day (first one for the London office) in May 2019, this time for the benefit of Divine Rescue.
Divine Rescue is a volunteer-led humanitarian charity organisation aiming to provide help & support for the homeless, people in crisis & other vulnerable groups. Since 2005, they provide different services for the people they work for, from providing them with meals to helping them to build their CV. Their main sources of revenue are the financial donations and the charity shop where they sell material donations (mainly clothes).
Four weeks ago, they had to relocate their offices and activities from East London to Center London. Following that forced move, Divine Rescue needed the help of many volunteers to reorganized and refurbish their offices, the computers room, the donations inventory, etc. That’s where Kartesia comes into play! The London and Madrid teams of Kartesia gathered in London to sort (a lot of!) clothes donations.
The sorted clothes will make their way the new charity shop in Kentish Town this week and another team of volunteers will clean the space and begin setting up with Hands On London. The clothing items will serve two purposes. A large quantity of the clothes will be given out for free to those who are in need - predominantly homeless individuals and families on a low income. The rest of the clothing will be set up in the charity shop, and they will use the contributions in a variety of ways to help them find their feet again.
