Kartesia’s investment team includes ten professionals across a broad range of disciplines: investment management, banking and financial services industries, control and non-control investing, transaction services and strategy consulting.

From our offices in London, Brussels and Luxembourg, our team provides our investors with a comprehensive set of expertise in the credit markets (origination, underwriting, structuring, portfolio and risk management). We have a proven track-record in successfully building, monitoring and operating large portfolio of leverage loans.

Laurent Bouvier

When founding Kartesia in 2013, Laurent had over 13 years of experience in private equity finance. Before founding Kartesia, Laurent co-founded the Altercap funds at LBO France, which successfully raised and invested € 500m in corporate credit opportunities since 2009. Laurent was a member of LBO France executive committee. Previously, Laurent worked four years as Assistant Director at the Intemediate Capital Group (ICG) Paris office where he structured various mezzanine and equity investments. Laurent started his career in 2000 at Credit Agricole CIB (formerly Crédit Agricole Indosuez) initially in project finance focusing on Telecoms, and then as an investment manager focusing on leveraged finance.

Matthieu Delamaire

When founding Kartesia in 2013, Matthieu had over 7 years in private equity finance and a further 7 in audit and transaction services. Before founding Kartesia, Matthieu co-founded the Altercap funds at LBO France, which successfully raised and invested € 500m in corporate credit opportunities since 2009. Previously, Matthieu worked at Société Générale's Leveraged Finance teams and took part in the structuring of various LBO transactions. Matthieu also worked as an auditor at Deloitte, where he began his career in 1999, and at PWC in the Transaction Services department in 2001, where he was responsible for delivering due diligence reports for corporates and private equity funds.

Jaime Prieto

When founding Kartesia in 2013, Jaime had over 10 years of experience in private equity finance and strategy. Before founding Kartesia Advisors, Jaime co-founded the Altercap funds at LBO France, which successfully raised and invested €500 million in corporate credit opportunities since 2009. Prior to joining LBO France, Jaime worked at the Intemediate Capital Group (ICG), structuring mezzanine investments across Europe and launching the Minority Partners group. Between 2003 and 2005, Jaime worked at McKinsey & Co advising private equity and corporate clients in M&A transactions in Spain and France. Jaime also worked for Lucent Technologies between 1998 and 2001 in France, Mexico and the US.

Damien Scaillierez

When founding Kartesia in 2013, Damien had over 21 years of experience in private equity finance. Before founding Kartesia, Damien was chief investment officer and chairman of the global investment committee at Intermediate Capital Group (ICG), where he also held the position of Co-Head of the French business and led more than twenty mezzanine and equity investments. Prior to ICG, Damien worked at Credit Agricole CIB (formerly Crédit Agricole Indosuez) initially as a credit analyst and then in the the leveraged finance team for six years, where he participated in LBO transactions as well as corporate acquisition financings.

Markus Geiger

When joining Kartesia in 2015, Markus had 9 years of experience in private equity and 9 years in consulting. Before advising Kartesia, he was a partner at Steadfast Capital, a mid-market private equity firm focusing on German speaking countries and Benelux, where he was responsible for the origination, execution, and the management of various LBO investments between 2006 and 2014. Prior to Steadfast Capital, Markus spent 9 years with Booz Allen Hamilton in management consulting, where he focussed on growth strategies, efficiency improvement programmes, and corporate finance services for international corporations and private equity firms.

Thomas Pöhler

When joining Kartesia in 2013, Thomas had over 7 years of experience in leveraged finance. Before joining Kartesia, Thomas worked at Commerzbank as Assistant Vice President in the Leveraged Finance origination team, and was responsible for deal opportunities analysis, credit risk assessment, financial modeling and negotiation with financial sponsors.  At Commerzbank, Thomas also worked as an Associate in the Portfolio Management team, where he was responsible for fifteen LBO transactions, including monitoring and negotiation of waivers and restructurings.

Julien Rigon

When joining Kartesia in 2013, Julien had over 5 years of experience in finance. Before joining Kartesia, Julien worked as an investment professional at BNP Paribas’ leverage finance group, where he actively participated in the successful development of their CLO platform and performed credit analysis, portfolio monitoring and secondary market trading. Previously, Julien worked for two years in BNP Paribas’ Oil & Gas structured finance team in Houston. Julien started his career as a junior analyst at Astorg Partners (a French mid-cap private equity fund).

Jean Diercxsens

When joining Kartesia in 2015, Jean had over 6 years of experience in Finance. Before joining Kartesia, Jean worked for four years in the acquisition finance team at BNP Paribas Corporate & Investment Banking, focusing on leveraged and investment grade financings for corporates in the BENELUX, Central Europe and Turkey and where he was responsible for analysing deal opportunities, credit risk assessment, financial modelling and negotiating syndicated loan agreements. Jean joined the BNP Paribas group as a management trainee in 2010. Prior to that, Jean began his career in 2009 as a business analyst with Deloitte Consulting.

Tomas Neuhaus

When joining Kartesia in 2013, Tomas had over 3 years of experience in M&A, advising corporates and private equity clients. Before joining Kartesia, Tomas worked at DC Advisory (former Atlas Capital) where he began his career in 2011 as an analyst. Tomas was responsible for the preparation of bank presentations, information memorandum and financial modeling. He was also directly involved in the restructuring of three Spanish companies, which included the amend-to-extend of a syndicated loan, the sale of non-core assets and an operational restructuring. Tomas also worked as an intern at Deutsche Postbank, Deutsche Bank and Deloitte Corporate Finance.

Guillermo Ferre

When joining Kartesia in 2017, Guillermo had over 5 years of experience in finance. Before joining Kartesia, Guillermo worked as an Associate in the Acquisition and Leveraged Finance team of JP Morgan’ Investment Banking Division in London. At JP Morgan, Guillermo worked on a wide range of transactions across corporate finance including left-lead execution of transactions concerning the issuance of new debt facilities in the context of LBOs, restructurings and refinancings. Prior to this, Guillermo worked as a coverage analyst at Barclays in Spain.
Guillermo holds an Undergraduate & Master’s Degree in Finance and Business Administration from the ESADE University in Barcelona.

Iltay Sensagir

Iltay had over three years of experience in finance when joining the Kartesia team in 2017. Before joining Kartesia, Iltay worked as an Associate in the Advisory Group - Consumer, Retail, Healthcare and Real Estate of Goldman Sachs’ Investment Banking Division in London. At Goldman Sachs, Iltay was responsible for financial modelling, valuation analysis, credit analysis and the preparation of transaction documents on M&A and Leveraged Finance transactions in the EMEA region. Prior to this, Iltay worked as an intern at Goldman Sachs in London, Société Générale in Paris and Accuracy in Frankfurt am Main. Iltay holds a Master’s Degree in Finance from the European Business School Oestrich-Winkel.

Gaëtan Valcke

Before joining Kartesia as Analyst in 2017, Gaëtan worked as an intern at Bencis Capital Partners and Fortino Capital where he was part of the deal team. He was responsible for analyzing deal opportunities, financial modelling and deal structuring and actively participated in various investments, closely cooperating with the management of several portfolio companies on their buy & build strategy. Gaëtan graduated from Warwick Business School and Solvay Brussels School.

Coralie De Maesschalck

Coralie had over 5 years of experience in Private equity and a further 5 in audit services when she joined Kartesia in 2015. Before joining Kartesia, Coralie worked as Senior Portfolio Monitoring Analyst at Inter IKEA. Next to setting up the monitoring function, Coralie was in charge of cash flow monitoring and actively participated in the development of their Social and Responsible Investing (SRI) practices. Previously, Coralie worked for five years at KPMG Belgium where she started her career as financial auditor.

Frantz Paulus

When joining Kartesia in 2016, Frantz had over 9 years’ experience in private equity and 7 in audit and transaction services. Prior to joining Kartesia, Frantz set up and headed the equity co-investment activity of Crédit Agricole Private Equity, where he invested in buyout and growth capital transactions across Europe. Previously, Frantz worked in a family office specialized in the healthcare sector. Frantz started his career as an auditor with PwC in London before joining their Transaction Services department in Paris, where he conducted due diligence assignments for corporations and private equity funds.

Thomas Dewé

When joining Kartesia in 2015, Thomas had over 13 years of experience in Private Equity and alternative investment funds management. Before joining Kartesia, Thomas worked as Relationship Manager at Citco REIF Services. His position included the overall management of Luxembourg regulated and unregulated alternative investment funds, as well as the supervision of legal and accounting team. Previously, Thomas worked for ten years at Société Européenne de Banque, a subsidiary of Intesa San Paolo Banking group and for three years in Arthur Andersen and Ernst & Young’s audit department.

Basile Gerber

After five years in Private Debt and Real Estate, Basile joined Kartesia as Portfolio Manager in 2017. Before coming to Kartesia, Basile worked as Associate at Lapithus Management, the asset manager of Apollo Global Management, covering European distressed real estate debt funds. His responsibilities included conducting due diligence, and managing and restructuring distressed loans in France, Ireland, Spain and the UK. Prior to that, Basile was part of the European Investment Bank’s restructuring division, focusing on operations outside Europe. He also worked in Deloitte Consulting’s Capital Market division.
Basile holds a Master’s Degree in Finance and Science in Management from Grenoble Graduate School of Business.

Berengère Hausmann

After more than five years in the legal administration of alternative investment funds and private equity structures in Luxembourg, Berengere joined Kartesia as Legal Officer in 2017. From 2011 to 2017, she worked for SGG, a leading financial services and fund administration international group. Berengere’s duties there included administration of the Altercap funds, which gave her a deep knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment for debt funds in Luxembourg.

Before joining Kartesia, Bernd worked as Senior Deal Administrator and Secondary Loan Trade Closer for Commerzbank AG, Luxembourg Branch. Bernd is a certified SixSigma+Lean Green Belt. He spent 14 years with Deutsche Bank, Dresdner Bank and Commerzbank, where he focused on loan administration, agency services and secondary loan trade documentation.

Hana Witzke

When joining Kartesia in 2013, Hana had more than 6 years of experience in structuring and setting-up alternative investment funds and private equity structure in Luxembourg. Prior to joining Kartesia, Hana worked for SGG since 2011, a leading financial services and fund administration international group, with more than 500 professionals worldwide. Hana was notably in charge of the administration of the Altercap funds and has therefore a deep knowledge of the tax, legal and regulatory environment for debt funds in Luxembourg. From 2008 to 2011, Hana worked for the Loyens & Loeff law firm in Luxembourg, focusing on alternative investment fund structuring.

Malika Azzouz

When joining Kartesia in 2015 Malika had over 15 years of experience as an Office Manager, mainly in Luxembourg. Prior to Kartesia, she worked at the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg as an Office Assistant before joining for 12 years an IT Company, Business Solutions Builders, as an Office Manager.  Malika is responsible for the organization of the Kartesia office in Luxembourg, with a key role in the cost accounting department.

Tina Milanovic

Tina had more than 4 years of experience as an assistant before joining Kartesia. She worked for the most part as a Case Team Assistant at The Boston Consulting Group. She has been Kartesia’s Office Manager in the Brussel’s office since 2015. Next to being in charge of maintaining office efficiency and services, Tina also provides diary management for two Managing Partners. In addition, she has an active participation in Kartesia’s communication with her graphic design skills (Newsletters, Website) and in the management of the Data Room.

Francisca Thompson

When joining Kartesia in 2017 Francisca had over 17 years of experience as an Office Manager in multi-cultural environments, both in the UK and mainland Europe. Francisca joined Kartesia as Office Manager and takes care of day-to-day organisation and admin support at the London office. Prior to Kartesia, she worked as Office Manager at a French Executive Search firm for a year. Previously, Francisca acted as Executive Assistant in companies such as JC Decaux, Alliance Boots Healthcare and Disney London, as well as in financial companies such as Oaktree Capital Management, Credit Agricole and AXA Investment Managers.
